The Sculptors

CV

Sally Aplin
Trained as a sculptor, enameller and painter I work across these disciplines.  Materials are very significant and I exploit them for their physical properties, social meaning and tactile qualities.

I like my work to chime with its environment.

Both in solo and group exhibitions I have made installations about deterioration and ageing.  For many years trees and their growth habit have informed my work. I use many different materials including concrete, plaster, textiles, perspex, hair and wax.  I also work in copper, firing vitreous enamel onto it, forming constructions and wall panels.

Works shown on this site were created over many years.

I have been resident in Australia since 2001.
